Who is Spang & Brands?
Spang & Brands GmbH is a successful, family-run medical technology company with over 100 years of experience. Founded in 1909 as a shoe machine factory, we have specialized in plastic parts for medical technology since the 1970s. Today, we offer a wide range of services, from the development and production of assemblies and prototype manufacturing to clean room production and quality assurance.
With around 200 employees and flat hierarchies, we focus on innovative strength and fast, direct communication. Our aim is to always find the best solutions – true to our motto: “There is always a way to do it better. Find it!” (Thomas Edison).
Spang & Brands has been family-run since its foundation. In 2022, the fourth generation joined the family business with twins Rafaela Echterdiek (left) and Ricarda Echterdiek (right). Mr. Friedrich Echterdiek (center) has been managing the company as CEO for over 50 years.

Our story – From shoe machine factory to manufacturer of plastic parts for medical technology
1909
Spang & Brands GmbH was founded in Oberursel in 1909 as a shoe machine factory. In its early years, the company focused on developing and producing machines for the shoe industry—a solid foundation for technological advancement and steady growth. Spang & Brands quickly established itself as a reliable partner in this industry.
1960
In the 1960s, Spang & Brands responded to technological change and shifted its focus to packaging machines. Continuous development and proximity to the market strengthened the company's expertise in mechanical engineering. The company expanded its portfolio and positioned itself as a provider of efficient and future-oriented solutions for industry.
1970
At the beginning of the 1970s, Spang & Brands initiated a decisive change of course: the focus shifted to plastics technology for medical technology. The growing demand for precision plastic components opened up new opportunities. Investments in modern manufacturing technologies and consistent further development made Spang & Brands a valued partner for demanding applications in medical technology.
Today
Today, Spang & Brands has around 200 employees and is regarded as a reliable solution provider for plastic components in medical technology. With more than 70 injection molding machines and clean room equipment, the company meets the highest standards of quality, precision, and purity. Its collaboration with customers is characterized by a spirit of innovation, a partnership-based approach, and tailor-made developments.
